“When designing our new home in 2007 we wanted a mix of natural materials (stone, wood and stucco) with a timber-frame look and feel without actually being a timber-frame house. Our inspiration was the style of homes that are being built in major ski resort areas of the Canadian Rockies or Mount Tremblant in the Laurentian mountains in Quebec.
Having known Colin since his teen years and knowing that he had developed an expertise in working with wood and large timber in particular we met with him to discuss our project. After seeing some of his previous projects we recommended to our builder that he work with Colin to create the effect that we were looking for. The final result was even more impressive than we had hoped and we are so pleased with both the exterior timber accents (mostly hemlock that was milled and installed by Colin ) as well as the interior with its pine post & beam effect. We are thrilled with the craftsmanship that Colin brought to our project and have enjoyed it on a daily basis since moving into our home in July 2008. The house is so warm and inviting in large part due to the natural wood content supplied by Colin and we are extremely happy with the result.
In 2012 we decided to add a pergola to the patio at the rear of the house and contacted Colin once again to design and build something that would integrate seamlessly with the house. Colin was able to rise to the challenge and created a structure that is both beautiful and functional and not only integrates with but also compliments the house. We are very pleased with the final product and impressed by Colin’s attention to detail. The quality of construction is second to none.
